It's been awhile

I apologize for the lack of blogging lately. Our lives are in the midst of all kinds of changes right now. We close on our first home next Friday, and are SO very excited about it. That means that our apartment is in complete disarray, which drives this Type-A mommy nuts! But, despite that, we've been having lots of fun lately!

I love photography and am thankful to have two gorgeous little models. I've been experimenting with different angles and trying to catch the "every day" moments. Here are some of my "projects":
Grace got a pack of sidewalk chalk for her birthday. We finally had nice enough weather so we could open it up! Daddy helped her draw some fun pictures (like a kinda creepy Mickey).

We also found an amazing solid oak table on Craigslist for only $125! Here is the beautiful table that will be gracing our new dining room:

Go Fly a Kite...Among Other Things

It's been awhile since my last update. For that, I apologize. I'll make up for it with lots of cuteness :)

Since it's been so incredibly gorgeous out, we've been going for a lot of walks. Last week, when the kids and I were running errands, Joe called to ask if I could pick up a kite. This Saturday, we had a super windy day (what a surprise), so we packed up the kids for a walk, took the kite along, and headed out. Grace had a BLAST helping Daddy fly the princess kite.
We had to make a pit stop at the playground, of course. Grace thoroughly enjoyed being able to run and jump and swing again!

On Sunday, we took a picnic to the "big" park (at Lindenwood, by the still-overflowing river) and let Grace run wild. And run wild she did- for about an hour. We ate our sandwiches, Goldfish and pudding by a tree that she specially picked.I think we wore her out.
Notice the melting granola bar in her hand?
Dirty feet from all that running...
Since Grace is such a little artist, we had all kinds of broken crayons. I found a cool site with directions to make new mutli-colored crayons. Here's the aforementioned artist filling the muffin tins.
She kept peeking into the oven to see her crayons "baking." I took out the camera (of course) and she heard me turn it on. She turned to look at me and said, in all seriousness, "No pictures, Mom!" Well, excuse me, Miss Paparazzi :)
And, just because he's a darn cute kid, here's is Mr. Aiden.

Easter Fun

As I'm sure you're aware, Easter was this past weekend. I LOVE Easter! While we were decorating cupcakes, I tried teaching Grace what Easter was all about. I told her about how Jesus came to earth as a baby and that He died on a cross for our sins. Three days later, He rose and that's what we celebrate. If we believe in Jesus, that He died in our place, and ask Him into our hearts, we get to go to heaven- where Jesus lives! She was very excited about that, and remembers that "Desus is God's SON!"
We traveled to Nana & Papa's house for the weekend. Grace was hamming it up in the car, as you can tell from the pictures below. Her car seat is now forward facing, so she gets to see SOOOO much more, and she loves it! We now get a running commentary on what's going on outside the car.
She proceeded to fall asleep with her snack. Notice her hand is still in the bag of Goldfish, she's clutching her water bottle...and see her little toesies? So sweet!
At Nana and Papa's, Grace got to help her favorite grandparents make caramel rolls and dye eggs. Think she had fun?
I got to take some super cute pictures of Aiden when he woke up. I LOVE his gorgeous blue eyes. We also got to take some family pictures, including a four-generation one with my Grandpa Nerland.
I love these men. How sweet is this picture?
Grace thoroughly enjoyed hunting for eggs. She named the color of each egg as she picked it up.
We had a wonderful weekend, filled with fun, amazingly yummy food, and family time. Thanks, Mom & Dad! We love you lots!
